Abstract: Heavy oil is different from general oil, mostly its viscosity is too thick to be exploited with normal methods. Due to the particularity quality of heavy oil, this paper introduces and summarizes principle and shortcoming of several common methods in producing heavy oil, such as steam and in-situ combustion. And also presents new unconventional methods of heavy oil recovery.
