Abstract:
To address the challenges of low efficiency and high risk in the cutting of multi-layer consolidated casings during the permanent abandonment of offshore oil and gas wells, this paper introduces an efficient cutting technique. By analyzing the factors that affect the cutting performance, the cutting plan was optimized for the X well on the Weizhou 11-4D platform. The application of an integrated forging and cutting method not only reduced the operation time by 9.5 hours compared with the single-cutting method of adjacent wells but also matched the efficiency of the abrasive jet cutting technique, which is known for its high risk and cost. This integrated approach, which takes into account the extreme eccentricity of the casings, demonstrates higher efficiency and safety in cutting operations and is recommended for broader application in similar projects.
