Abstract:
Typhoon is a huge annual challenge for the offshore drilling rig, especially for Jack-up rig. Due to its own structural design and drilling technology, the cantilever can't be recovered when the typhoon comes, and the BOP, CTU, wellheads and some other equipments can only keep the same status as the production time, that's why we need to discuss and analyze how to nipple up BOP to avoid the damage of equipment which can be made by the typhoon. In this paper, the method and experience will be introduced in detail though the field practice in the Rig KANTAN 7 which undergo three typhoons in the same well. Actually, the mentioned method has achieved good results, so this paper can provide a reference for similar rigs.
