Abstract
Automatic optimum division method is commonly used to identify layers and the aim of the paper is to evaluate the method. Logging data of Well B101 were used in the paper. The result indicated that the method generated too many false interfaces and did not identify interfaces concisely. Comprehensive analysis from various approaches can give a reasonable result and a reasonable standard of combining thin layers should be established to decrease false interfaces.
