The Semi-quantitative Evaluation of Carbonate Reservoir

  • The exploration practice has proved that carbonate rock is an important hydrocarbon reservoir. Because it has long sedimentary age and high heterogeneity, experienced many tectonic movements, endured strong weathering, denudating and leaching, the quantitative evaluation is the main technical problem in carbonate exploration. Now the evaluation is still at qualitative semiquantitative level, there are three common methods such as geological prediction, geophysical and comprehensive geological geophysical computation etc. Geological methods mainly include curvature method, structural stress modeling and strength factor computation of fault stress. Geophysical methods can be divided into multi fractional seismology, Seislog inversion technique, time frequency analyzing method, fracture prediction by correlation analysis. Comprehensive geological geophysical computations include nonlinear numeric modeling of large deformation and rotating method of limited deformation. These methods are widly applicated in oil provinces at home and abroad, and have made good results.
