Research and application of cementing technology of synthetic based drilling fluid in a block of Bohai Oilfield

  • In a block of Bohai Oilfield, synthetic-based drilling fluid is employed for drilling operations. However, the application of synthetic-based drilling fluid poses numerous challenges to cementing operations, resulting in low strength of cement and poor bonding quality, which makes it difficult to improve the cementation quality. To improve the bonding quality of the cement rings under the drilling conditions of synthetic-based drilling fluids, this paper analyzes the difficulties and characteristics of cementing operations with synthetic-based drilling fluid. Further, in combination with the laboratory experiments of cementing, a reasonable cementing scheme is designed, the performance of the pre-fluid is optimized to improve the displacement efficiency of cement slurry, and other cementing technologies are adopted to reduce interference from other factors. Through the application of multiple batches of wells in this block, the cementing quality has been significantly improved. It is indicated that this synthetic-based drilling fluid cementing technology has a good effect on ensuring the safety of cementing operation and improving the quality of cementing.
