Methodology for 4D tow-streamer acquisition and mitigation strategies for complex operating environments

Abstract
The application of 4D seismic exploration technology has reached a mature stage abroad, while domestically it remains primarily in the research and experimental phase, with particularly scarce engineering application studies on marine streamer 4D exploration. Taking the acquisition and implementation processes of overseas streamer geophysical projects as case studies, this paper introduces the basic methods, implementation techniques, key process and mitigation strategies for complex conditions in 4D streamer acquisition. It proposes a method to ensure consistency between time-lapse seismic data and baseline data by utilizing a combination of techniques such as seasonal synchronization, dynamic tidal model correction and coordinated control of the Orca navigation system. In response to challenges such as excessive feather angle deviation caused by strong ocean currents and the presence of drilling platforms in the central part of the survey area, innovative approaches were adopted, including increasing the number of streamers and employing "ΔS-ΔR" offset compensation technology, which improved line repetition accuracy to over 90%. The findings of this study can serve as a reference for promoting the application of 4D tow-streamer exploration technology.
