Research and application of high impact-resistant bits in the sandstone formation of Lindian

  • Yingcheng Formation of Linxi Sub-sag in the Lindian area is characterized by great burial depth, large thickness, poor drillability, and well-developed gravels. To address the issue of poor drillability of Yingcheng Formation in this area, two types of high-efficiency PDC bits were developed based on research into key technologies such as PDC bit cutting element materials, special-shaped tooth rock-breaking mechanisms, and bit cutting structures. These are the 6-blade 16 mm tooth high impact-resistant bit and the 7-blade 13 mm tooth high impact-resistant bit. Field applications show that the high-efficiency PDC bits have strong adaptability to the high gravel-content formations of Yingcheng Formation. The application has effectively increased the rate of penetration and the footage per run, achieving significant speed-up effects. The application of high-efficiency PDC bits in Well XS1 has made outstanding contributions to reducing single-well drilling investment, increasing drilling speed, and promoting efficient development in Linxi Sub-sag in the Lindian area, while also providing reference for drilling speed-up in similar blocks.
