Application of Abnormal Geological Body Identification Technology in Drilling Risk Prediction—A Case Study in South Tahe Area

  • Abnormal geological bodies are locally developed in some strata in the northern Tarim Basin, resulting in frequent complex drilling conditions. To ensure drilling safety and reduce drilling costs, the leading geological factors were identified by analyzing logging and core data from complex working conditions. Corresponding geophysical attribute analyses were adopted to characterize various abnormal lithologic bodies that induce engineering risks. It is discoveried that strengthened coherent attributes of eigenvalues have a significant effect on the prediction of Permian leakage sections and the prediction of high-pressure brine layers and intrusive rock bodies has a good effect by using amplitude attributes. Practice shows that the accuracy of this technology for predicting geological anomalies in south Tahe area region is 95.6%. The drilling costs per single well could be saved by 8.9957 million yuan. It provides effective technical support for improving the quality and efficiency of drilling engineering.
