Study on Sensitivity Test of Underwater Caisson Oil Leakage Monitor

  • In order to monitor the early oil leakage of the underwater oil and gas production system arranged in the caisson, this paper develops and tests an oil leakage monitor based on ultraviolet fluorescence technology, and focuses on testing its oil leakage monitoring sensitivity. According to the actual caisson structure, a scaled-down simulated caisson was made. The oil leakage monitor was arranged in the center of the caisson top cover. By simulating oil leakage in the caisson, the sensitivity of the oil leakage monitor to trace oil leakage under different working conditions was tested. The results show that the simulated oil leakage at a distance of 0.5 m to 4.5 m from the monitor can be monitored, but the time required increases with the distance. The vertical upward installation of the monitor can detect the oil leakage more sensitively than the horizontal installation. The oil leakage signal will have an increase of more than 100% relative to the base signal. This paper tests the measurement sensitivity of the ultraviolet fluorescence oil leakage monitor under various working conditions, and finds that the device can be well applied to real-time monitoring of trace oil leakage in underwater caissons.
