Study on Measures to Reduce Natural Gas Venting in A Oilfield

  • In order to implement the construction of ecological civilization and effectively promote the green and low-carbon development of A oilfield, according to the requirements of the company, the daily venting volume of natural gas needs to be controlled within 0.3×104 m3. Starting from the aspects of sorting out the flare venting source, consulting the historical operating conditions of various equipment, and finding out the logistics transportation status, comprehensive tests were carried out before and after, including the tightness of the valves connected to the flare venting system, the recovery of the associated gas in the water source well, and the expansion of the gas buffer tank of CEPA platform of A oilfield by using the idle gas scrubber tank of WHPA platform of A oilfield, and the reasonable adjustments of the operation parameters of slug flow catcher. The daily venting volume of natural gas meets the emission requirements. The annual recovery of natural gas is about 135.1×104 m3, and the carbon emission is reduced by 2 921 t, which has achieved good economic and social benefits. It has a good reference and popularization significance for controlling the problem of natural gas venting.
