Abstract
The electricity power on production platform is usually supplied through subsea cable from remote places. Because there are many motors such as ESPs and injection pumps used on the production platform, the voltage and power efficiency of electrical terminal is very low. In most cases, the platform is fully loaded, and no more new pumps could be used, which limits the injection and production operations. Besides, there are many converters used on the platform, which results in harmonic waves in the electrical system. To solve the electrical quality problem, the tunable filter was used on the QHD32-6 production platform. Study has been conducted on the electrical quality improvement of QHD 32-6 platform. The study results show that the power efficiency, load capacity and the terminal voltage are all improved and that the application of tunable filter is appropriate for reactive electrical compensation on offshore platforms.
