Study on Artificial-Interlayer Barrier Distribution and Influencing Factors in Bottom-Water Heavy Oil Reservoir

  • Study on artificial barrier distribution mechanism and EOR effect factors of the heavy oil reservoir with bottom water has been conducted with laboratory experiment and numerical simulation method. The artificial barrier morphological characteristics are studied qualitatively and quantitatively under different sedimentary characteristics, different injection medium speed, volume and vis-cosity in laboratory experiment. Then, the results of laboratory studies are compared with the results of numerical simulation method. The results showed that different sedimentary characteristics have obvious difference on the formation of the barrier morphology, dif-ferent water blocking measures should be taken in view of the different sedimentary characteristics. The smaller of the injection speed is the better of the study result. Considering the time of construction and operation, injection speed should be increased. Changing the gel concentration can influence greatly on the morphology of interlayer barrier. The higher of the gel concentration and the greater of injection viscosity, the greater of the interlayer barrier thickness is. The larger of injection volume, the greater of the injection barrier radius and thickness, but the overall morphology is similar.
