Research on new sand control material HD-1 applied to steam injection wells in Gudao Oilfield

Abstract
There are unconsolidated sand reservoirs which produce viscous crude oil in Gudao Oilfield, and sand production in the course of oil production is severe. The sand control ability of coated sand artificial borehole wall is low and the production cycle is short after steam injection. For this reason, high temperature resistance resin, high strength skeleton particle, coupling agent, and solidifying agent were selected to formulate a new sand control material through indoor experiment, and its high temperature resistance ability was evaluated and permeability was measured. Field experiments of 72 thermal production wells in Gudao Oilfield were made, and 91.0% of these wells were controlled successfully. Furthermore, cumulative oil production was 121 572 t, and average validity time of single well is 233 d. Field test showed HD-1 sand control material can improve recovery of steam injection wells effectively.
