The development of horizontal well technology applied to bottom-water drive reservoir in the west area of QHD32-6 Oilfield

  • With the progress of oil field development, the production technology of horizontal well has been improved, and got good results in bot tom-water drive oil reservoir. The west area of QHD32-6 Oilfield is a typical bot tom-water drive oil reservoir, and the main part of this area was put into production by directional wells in 2002.However, there was no water free production period, bot tom-water coning and breakthrough very fast. The area enters in high water cut after 6 years' production. In early 2008, water cut of this area was 83.7%, the oil recovery level was 5.05%, and the efficiency is low.Based on the pilot study, it is summarized that there are two main factors which influence the production of horizontal wells:the height of the horizontal well path above the OWC, and the distribution of flow barriers in the horizontal well area.Based on the study of the flow barriers and the remaining oil, we deploy 6 horizontal wells in the lower Minghua reservoir, geosteering technology and advanced well completion methods are applied to.The early productivity of the horizontal development well are about 3 times than the deviated wells of this area, the estimated total recovery efficiency of the whole oil field has increased by 0.36%, and it brings in economic and social benefits.
