The research and application of horizontal well geosteering method

The technical methods of horizontal well geosteering at home and abroad are summed up and analyzed, and the technical idea of the horizontal well optimal designing is put forward. By combining accurate geologic model, identifying surrounding bed while drilling, and logging technology, the main technical process and the geosteering rule of the horizontal well landing and horizontal drilling have been summarized, and the judging methods of drilling bit position, strata dip, and apparent formation thickness have been presented. Moreover, the construction of geosteering monitor system is built, resource sharing of real-time oil field geology, well drilling and well logging data is realized, and the accuracy of horizontal well target is ensured. This method can enhance the success rate of drilling wells more substantially than traditional geosteering.
