Thermal history reconstruction of TWT-2 well in Xihu Depression, the East China Sea

  • Thermal history of TWT-2 well in the central anticline belt in Xihu Depression is reconstructed using the methods of combination and fluid inclusion microthermometry. It is indicated that geothermal gradient decreased gradually from the Oligocene to present, and higher paleo-geothermal gradient is favorable for the maturation of source rock and hydrocarbon generation. The heat flow value during depression stage is higher than that during regional subsidence stage. The rate of geotemperature increase varied in contrast to the paleo-heat flow, and the thermal history of petroliferous basin can be reconstructed effectively using the methods of combination and fluid inclusion microthermometry.
