Application of image logs to geological reservoir study

  • There is abundant geological information in Image logs. It could be more straightly and accurately used to study the geological characteristics of subsurface reservoirs, including structure (structural dips, faults), sediment (beddings, litho-face, paleocurrent), and so on. And it's also the best measurement of apertures in fractured reservoirs to provide aperture density and plane porosity for evaluating fractured reservoirs. In addition, imaging log is of great significance in study of present in-situ stress to offer important basic data for drilling and production engineering. In a word, imaging log should be combined with other disciplines in reservoir geology and engineering, to offer more scientific and valid applications for oilfield exploration and development.
