An orthogonal test study of posthydrolysis process of hydrophobic associative polyacrylamide

  • Hydrophobic associative polyacrylamide were used as an oil displacement agent in oilfields, the requirements of its polymers were also improved. In this paper, based on special molecular structure of the solution and its special structure, an orthogonal test of the posthydrolysis process of hydrophobic association polyacrylamide was designed to regulate all factors of posthydrolysis process and improve the solubility of polymer and viscosity of the solution which can meet the demands of the oilfields. Polymer solubility, viscosity and intrinsic viscosity were taken into consideration and the types of hydrolytic agent, hydrolytic temperature, hydrolytic time and the water quality were selected based on orthogonal test. The results showed that the best conditions for the posthydrolysis process were: hydrolytic agent is the mixture of Na2CO3/NaOH, hydrolytic time is 3 h, hydrolytic temperature is 90℃ , and water is 60 g.
