Quantitative Estimation of Erosion for Xihu Depression: Sonic Velocity Analysis

  • Xihu Depression in the East China Sea is characterized by a series of inverted anticlines which are of great significance for oil exploration in the region. Sonic velocity data from three wells are applied in order to estimate the amount of erosion caused by inversion. The result shows that the inversion intensify northward in the depression. The estimate of the amount erosion is similar to those obtained from fission track analysis.
