Finely Reservior Correlation and Application in Delta Steep Slope Belt:A Case Study of Dongying Fm of X Block in J Oilfield

  • Dongying Fm reservoir of X block in J oilfield is typical sediments of delta steep slope belt, characterized by large stratigraphic dip, high reservoir thickness, many barriers and intercalated layers, complex fault systems. On the basis of the characteristics of thick and heavy oil reservoirs, finely dividing layers and drilling horizontal wells have been conducted in the study area. With well drilling data, seismic data, and well logging data, palaeogeomorphic reconstruction has been finished, and marker layers have been selected. In addition, the constrained stratigraphic framework for reservoir correlation has been established. On the basis of these study results, high resolution stratigraphic sequence analysis as well as high frequency sedimentation cycle correlation has been accomplished, and finely reservoir correlation model, which is "step by step control, cycle correlation" has been constructed. Based on finely reservoir correlation, horizontal wells are drilled to develop the reservoirs in X block with seven development series, which has improved the development results efficiently.
