Reservoir Identification under the Influence of Thin Coal Seam

  • The main target layer Pinghu Formation strata of Xihu Sag is greatly affected by tidal action, thin coal seams are widely distributed, and horizontal heterogeneity is strong. Seismic data is seriously disturbed by thin coal seam reflection, which leads to false highlights of lithology identification. In order to improve the reliability of high-quality reservoir prediction and reduce the risk of false appearance caused by thin coal seams, a set of rock physics-driven reservoir comprehensive identification methods suitable for coal-bearing strata is formed, which is based on the analysis of the reflection law of coal-bearing strata, and integrates the results of geostatistical coal seam characterization and pre-stack inversion reservoir prediction. It reduces the illusion caused by coal seam in the process of reservoir prediction, effectively improves the reliability of sand body prediction, and lays a solid foundation for well location deployment.
