Research on Robustness Performance of Jacket Platform

  • Robustness is one of the key factors for offshore structural safety. As the main facility for the exploration and development of offshore oil and gas resources, abundant structural robustness should be considered in the design phase for jacket platforms. In this paper, a structural robustness approach based on nonlinear Pushover theory for jacket platform is proposed, in which the evaluation index of structural robustness is determined, and the process of jacket structural robustness assessment is established. Taking a jacket platform in East China Sea as an example, according to different structural damage modes, the redundancy of the structure is further discussed, the structural robustness parameters are calculated, and the platform robustness is evaluated by the residual influence coefficient (RIF). The results show that among three damage failure modes, the structural robustness of the damage platform sorted descending is horizontal members damage mode, diagonal members damage mode, and leg members damage mode. RIF can be applied for identifying the importance of structural members, thus providing an important reference for platform structure design or regular inspection.
