Application of Hybrid Percussion Generator in Deep Formation Drilling in Xihu Sag

  • With the deepening of exploration and development integration, the exploratory wells in Xihu Sag are faced with problems such as poor drillability of Pinghu Formation, low ROP, serious bit wear and frequent bit replacement, etc. during the drilling of deep formations. However, the traditional speed-up tools are difficult to effectively improve the speed and efficiency and shorten the construction period. The Hybrid Percussion Generator developed by SheenStone oil tools company can convert drilling fluid pressure into axial and circumferential high-frequency mechanical impact, which can reduce stick slip effect and transfer impact energy to PDC bit to break rock instantly. It can effectively improve the rock breaking efficiency and prolong the service life of the bit. Good results have been achieved in different areas of Xihu Sag, especially in Pingbei Area. The ROP is stable above 10 m/h in the deep formation of 3 500 m.
