The Relationship between the Karst Paleomorphology of the Yingshan Formation of the Lower Ordovician and Palaeo-drainage Pattern in Xikeer,Xinjiang

  • In the Tarim basin, the predecessors have summed up many methods to forecast the distribute of the reservoir, among which the most widely used and most effective methods is to use the development characteristic of the palaeo-drainage pattern restored, so restoring the palaeo-drainage pattern and mastering the development laws is the core of the work. Many areas are rich in karst phenomena and many scholars have built up systematic modern karst theory after field studying in karst areas. The Xikeer outcrops develop karst of Yingshan Formation, the karst topography is characterized by karst hill, mound, karst depression, collapse karst gorge and erosion-steephead group. GPS is used to locate along the existing river valleys, synthesizing the geomorphic feature and the inherited laws of river valley, then the palaeo-drainage pattern of the Yingshan Formation can be restored.Using modern karst theory, it is recognized that karst paleo-geomorphology and palaeo-drainage pattern are of intimate relationship, that is, depression controls the flow direction of karst water system and the flow direction of Karst water system forms three-stage of karst landforms.
