Analysis of the Influence of Cold Vent Gas Diffusion on Offshore Platform Group

  • Cold vent system is an indispensable safety system for offshore production facilities. In order to evaluate the influence of the reconstruction of the position of the cooling vent pipes on the platform group, CFD finite element software was used to analyze the diffusion of the cooling vent gas. The result shows that the mix of external air flow effectively strengthens the dilution of combustible gas, and high wind speed is beneficial to the dilution of combustible gas. After modification, the location of the cold vent has little effect on the diffusion distance. No explosion or other safety hazards will be caused whether the cooling vent of platform W moves upward 10 m from the current position or not. With the ESE wind direction (frequency 3%), the exhaust gas will spread to the upper deck of platform D after the cold vent is extended by 10 m. The results of this study provide a reference for the reconstruction of the position of the cold discharge air pipes and the formulation of emergency measures in the future.
