Application of Offshore Oilfield Intermodulation Drilling Rig Model in Old and External Platforms

  • In order to maximize the release of production capacity and reduce the costs and risks of drilling, completion and workover operations in an old offshore oilfield, a new wellhead platform was hung on the side of the original wellhead platform, and the new wellhead platform uses a powerful HXJ225 module rig to meet the vast majority of drilling, completion and overhaul requirements of the reservoirs. However, the extension of the external platform increased the area of the old platform, so that the cantilever beam of the drilling platform could not cover the inner row of grooves for drilling and completion operations, and the cost of frequent relocation of drilling rigs were relatively high. After the economic and reserve evaluation, it was creatively proposed to set up a track slide on the new wellhead platform, and mimicked the "push the crate" game to solve the problem of two rigs on the new and old wellhead platform. After the external wellhead platform was put into use, the mutual call of workover rigs brought considerable economic benefits to the reservoir development.
