The Practice of Coal Facies Constrained Pre-stack Geo-statistics in A Gas Field of the East China Sea

  • It is very difficult to predict the reservoir under the coal. Due to the limit of seismic resolution, thin inter-bedded coal can affect the real seismic reflection characteristics of lower reservoir or generate complex seismic responses intermixed with the lower reservoir, which increase the difficulty of reservoir prediction. Only by truly reflecting the distribution characteristics of the sub-coal reservoir and improving the prediction accuracy of the reservoir under the thin coal interbed, we can provide strong support for the effective deployment of subsequent development wells. In this paper, based on the study of geo-statistics inversion, the coal facies constrained pre-stack geo-statistical inversion process has been established and applied in some area of the East China Sea basin.Good application results achieve and the reservoir prediction accuracy is higher than the conventional inversion method. This technique is also suitable for reservoir prediction under similar geological conditions and other special lithologic areas.
