Application of Phase Conversion Technique in Lithology Interpretation

  • The study area is an offshore block with lithological traps developing in the target layer. Due to the sparseness of the well network and the scarcity of logging data, reservoir prediction mainly depends on seismic data. High quality seismic data is the guarantee of lithology identification, so it is very important to improve the resolution of seismic data. In order to improve the accuracy of lithology interpretation, this paper discusses a reasonable and simple method for lithology interpretation, especially for thin reservoir interpretation based on comprehensive analysis of the geological characteristics of the study area and Landmark software. By means of zero-phase wavelet extraction, phase correction, channel-integral and 90°-phase conversion, the seismic data are closer to the actual reflection coefficient characteristics. The optimized seismic data is more beneficial for seismic interpretation and thin reservoir prediction. The prediction results were finally well verified by drilling.
