Development and Field Test of Sulphur-containing Odor Gas Treatment Agent in Kenxi Oilfield

  • There is a bad odor around the thermal recovery wells of some heavy oil with high sulfur content in Kenxi oilfield, which seriously affects the environmental safety, normal production of oil wells and subsequent productivity construction. Through the analysis of the generation and transformation mechanism of sulfur-containing odor gas in Kenxi oilfield, it is clear that the odor in thermal recovery wells of sulfur-containing heavy oil is caused by various sulfides such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan thioether produced by hydrothermal cracking reaction. The mercaptan thioether has a large odor even at a lower concentration because of its low odor threshold. Aiming at the odorous gases such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan thioether, a wellbore odor gas treatment agent is developed and matched with the corresponding dosing treatment process. Under the field conditions, the rapid and efficient deodorization is realized, and the environmental problems affecting the production of oil wells are solved. The field test has achieved remarkable results.
