Screening of Wax Inhibitor Based on Differential Scanning Calorimetry

  • In order to quickly screen and evaluate the formulation of wax inhibitor suitable for the wellbore of J oilfield, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to determine the wax precipitation process of crude oil, which has the characteristics of less oil samples, fast test and high precision. The wax precipitation parameters of B26 Well in J oilfield with and without the additive were analyzed, and writers found that the 5℃/min cooling rate referring to the standard of SY/T 0545-2012 is not suitable for the research sample. Through the comparative analysis of different cooling rate of wax and wax content obtained by the SY/T 7550-2012 standard, writers found that the most appropriate cooling rate for the sample is 13℃/min. According to that, the DSC parameters test was conducted before and after adding three kinds of paraffin inhibitor to the oil samples of B26 Well. The results show that DSC method can be used as a rapid screening and evaluation method for wax-preventing agent, and the selected wax-preventing agent OGD6002 has the best effect with the wax-preventing rate reaching 66. 3%.
