Application of TTI Anisotropic Velocity Modeling in Weixi Exploration Area

  • In Weixi area, there are lots of faults developing, with its structures complex, strata transverse change great and anisotropy obvious. In anisotropic media, seismic waves have special propagation laws. Isotropic migration methods are ineffective in solving migration problems, and image quality can not be guaranteed. Therefore, it's hard to identify the tiny faults based on isotropic prestack depth migration data. Consequently, the description of the sand body and fluid prediction is inaccurate. Anisotropic velocity modeling could be used to solve this problem, which can improve the S/N ratio, resolution, image quality and well describe faults and structure. Finally, the demand of reservoir prediction and detailed reservoir geology research could be met. The anisotropic prestack depth migration processing results in Weixi area is better than that of isotropy results. The image quality of the boundary faults is better and the contact relationship between the faults and the surrounding strata is clearer. The wave features are more active, the inner structure details are richer and the basement description is more reasonable. In sum, the improvement of processing results provides better seismic data for detailed reservoir geological interpretation and inversion.
