Numerical Study on Energy Dissipation of Ocean Internal Wave

  • In order to study the energy dissipation rate of the single frequency internal wave when it is propagated under the interference of white noise,the numerical calculation is carried out by using the high-precision general method.The influence of amplitude and Prandtl number (Pr) on dissipation rate during internal waves propagating and the lasting time of internal waves breaking is analyzed. The results show that the larger the amplitude of internal wave is, the greater the average energy dissipation rate in the three stages (before breaking, breaking, after breaking) is. The earlier the internal waves breaks, the shorter the breaking time is.The internal wave propagates in seawater, the greater Pr is, the smaller the average energy dissipation rate is in the early stage of breaking.The greater the average energy dissipation rate is in the breaking stage, the shorter the breaking time is. The research results can provide theoretical guidance for the quantification of internal wave energy dissipation rate and breaking time.
