Optimization in Design of Offshore Jacket Platform

  • In this paper, an introduction has been made on the optimization process in design of light jacket platforms used in the East China Sea with international advanced light concept. Weight, strength, stiffness and ductility of offshore structures are the key elements which need to be taken into account in the offshore engineering design. It will significantly improve the economical efficiency if the offshore structural strength and stiffness are increased while the structural weights are distinctly decreased. The advantages of the platform designed by us are safety, reliability, convenient transportation and installation, easy for construction, lightness, simple configuration, and low cost. Comparison between the new light design and traditional design has been conducted in order to show the advantages of the light design concept. In addition, it will provide a reference for design of similar offshore platform structures in the future.
