Difficulties and Technical Measures in Reservoir Prediction with Seismic Data from Paleogene Shahejie Formation of Bohai Oilfield

  • The Paleogene Shahejie formation is an important oil bearing layer in Bohai oil field, and the proved hydrocarbon reserves accounts for about 11% of Bohai Oilfield reserves. However, reservoir prediction on Shahejie formation is still difficult and the main reasons for those are low signal to noise ratio of seismic data, great lateral reservoir change, and low seismic resolution. In view of the geological and seismic data characteristics of Bohai oilfields, through study on the above difficulties, three:technologies have been proposed, including the seismic target processing technology, reservoir prediction technology under the sedimentary facies confinement and seismic target acquisition techniques, and the corresponding research direction have been made clear. Through practical application in the target development oilfields, the preliminary reservoir prediction technologies have been developed in Shahejie formation. The study results have been used to guide effectively the deployment and optimization of oil development wells.
