Analysis of Jackup Punch through Considering the Effect of Hull Buoyancy

  • In this paper, the reasons for jackup punch through accidents have been summarized. A computer program for the calculation of hull buoyancy has been developed. By considering the effect of hull buoyancy, a nonlinear finite element approach is proposed to study the buoyancy effect in increasing the jackup punch through capacity. The current study lays down the foundation for the development of a jackup preloading management system with the objective of minimizing the risk of punch through during jackup deployment.
