The Reasons of Seismic Chaotic and Its Relation with HC Accumulation in Deep Water Area of Niger Delta
-
Abstract
The seismic chaotic areas in the deep water regions of Niger Delta have been divided into six types on the basis of the seismic chaotic location and characteristics in seismic profiles. Through analysis about formation mechanism of seismic chaotic and the relationship with HC accumulation, it is believed that the former three kinds seismic chaotic were caused by seismic data acquisi-tion and processing, the fourth type was caused by shallow gas leakage, the fifth type seismic chaotic was caused by the small mud volcano penetrating the strata. The sixth was caused by mud volcano. The local strata ambiguity under sea floor strong amplitude is related with deep structures as well as oil & gas. During the actual evaluation of oil & gas fields, mud volcano has little effect on the size of oil and gas fields because the mud volcano were small in size, and impulse erupted, although they had destroyed the structures and reservoirs.
