Seismic Attribute Analysis of Gas Hydrate in Qiongdongnan Basin

  • Gas hydrate is a kind of cage clathrate of gas and water, formed under the low temperature and high pressure conditions. Hydrates have a major impact on the environment. The changes of ocean temperature and pressure conditions may cause hydrate de-composition, resulting in submarine landslides, even causing some great geological events. Through analysis of the seismic attributes of gas hydrates in Qiongdongnan area, combined with the previous study results, a series of techniques and methods for the detection of the gas hydrates of the study area have been developed, including seismic attribute analyzing technique, fine velocity analyzing technique, P-impedance inversion and polarity analyzing technique. Through comprehensive evaluation on the geological feature re-sponse by all kinds of methods, the favorable areas have been delineated, improving the prediction accuracy of gas hydrate in Qiong-dongnan Basin.
