Analysis of the Origin of High Resistivity Water Layer in XX Block of Indonesia

  • In this paper, study has been conducted the origin of high resistivity aquifers of L formation in XX block of Indonesia because the logging data interpretation results are inconsistent with the testing results. With available data, by excluding the other influence factors, such as high resistivity sedimentary rocks, high mud filtrate invasion, it has been concluded that the low salinity of the formation water is the main reason for high resistivity water layer through analysis of positive anomaly at aquifer section in SP curve, combined with analyzing results of formation water data. The analyzing results of the origins of high resistivity water layers in XX block is very helpful in logging interpretation on this block and division of the oil and water layers, which lays a solid foundation on reserves evaluation, exploration and development of this block.
