Application of Fracturing Technology to the Development of the Low Permeability Gas Reservoir in East China Sea

  • With the progress of recovery technology and the rising in oil price, "the poor gas layers", "the dry layers", or "the tight layers", which are considered as uneconomical for development in the East China Sea have become the study focus for geologists and reservoir engineers. The fracturing testing has been undertaken successfully in well A5 at low permeability Eocene Pinghu Formation in T Gas Field, East China Sea, and good fracturing results have been obtained, resulting in obvious improvement in the output in individual well. It has been proved that fracturing technology is effective measure to produce gas reserves in low permeability, gas reservoirs and to enhance gas recovery. It also illustrates that the understanding about the low permeability gas layers in East China Sea should be adjusted and the standards to identifiy gas layers should be redefined.
