Recognition of caliche nodule using FMI electric imaging logging data and its implications

  • Nodule is an aggregate of minerals which is significant in revealing sedimentary environment, sedimentary characteristics and evolution history. Study of nodule appearing in the outcrop is comparatively mature in the past. However, there is no available method to research comprehensively the shape, forming stage and amount of nodule which is located in wellbore, so the application of concretion theory is greatly limited in geology analysis. This article fully makes use of FMI data with high vertical and horizontal resolution, high coverage of wellbore and clear images to study the forming stage and the shape of the caliche nodule of Zhujiang group at Qionghai uplift, Zhujiangkou Basin, and also have positive significance in understanding the sedimentary environment and sedimentary evolution of the region of interest. Meanwhile, it is demonstrated that FMI electric imaging logging provided a new approach to study nodule of wellbore.
