Study on sedimentary facies for Pinghu Formation in Pinghu oil and gas field in East China Sea Basin

  • Pinghu oil and gas field is the first field which has been put into production in East China Sea Basin, and Pinghu Formation is one of the major production layers. For a long time, due to different opinions on sedimentary facies of Pinghu Formation, the understanding about the distribution regularity of oil and gas has been affected greatly. In this study, with paleontology data, geochemistry data, coring data, logging data and seismic data, sedimentary facies of Pinghu Formation have been analyzed thoroughly.Through comprehensive study, it is believed that sedimentary facies of Pinghu Formation is dominated by braid river-delta affected by tide. The sedimentary microfacies include mainly subaqueous distributary channel, subaqueous levee, subaqueous inter-distributary channel, the mouth bar.The study will provide useful guidance for the exploration and development of Pinghu oil and gas field.
