Abstract: Washover, milling and cutting are three common methods used to fish sump packers. Each of these fishing methods has its advantages and disadvantages. In order to compare the fishing efficiency of these three fishing methods, three wells with similar conditions in a platform of Bohai Oilfield were selected as comparative wells. The types of packers, packer depth, well structure, well deviation, and etc. should be similar and the three fishing methods were used to fish sump packers in the comparative wells. Through comparison, it is found that washover is the most efficient method in fishing the 9-5/8" BWD sump packers.
